50th Wedding Anniversary Card

50th Wedding Anniversary Card

Hi Susan

Here is a way I celebrated the 50th Wedding Anniversary of my Mother and Father-in-law, living in Ireland. I made a frame from cardboard and stuck gold beads with cold glue onto the frame. It turned out to be rather a heavy card.

Hi Ronell

Oh, that is a very special and beautiful card. It must have made quite an impression on your Mother and Father-in-law. I might have been tempted to make it into a wall hanging, with such a nice frame as this adorning it.

It sounds like you may have used a hot glue gun with low temperature glue on the bead work? I know that adhesive is very strong and quick to use so I use it for heavier projects myself (also it works very well with fabrics).

I like the heat embossed image as well. It goes very well with the textured frame.

Thank you for sharing your lovely card, Ronell.

Susan

PS: About your comments to me on the size of your iris fold card: You should still be able to use the easel technique even though the card is A5 in size. The process of making it into an easel card will actually strengthen the card front as you will be using two layers of cardstock to make the folded bit. You can also add more backing to the top portion of the fold if you like. HTH!

Hi Ronell

Thank you very much for clarifying the way you created this card. It helps to know how to have a play and try for a similar effect in our own craft rooms.

Thank you again!

Susan

About the glue
by: Ronell

Hello Susan

Regarding the 50th Anniversary card with frame and beads. No, I did not use the glue gun (heat) it is cold glue (dries clear and takes a while to dry) so you have time to move the beads around. In South Africa we have the product under the name of Alcolin Wood glue. This is a "wood glue" as well as Multi-purpose, bonds wood, cardboard, paper, leather and felt etc.
